NORWAY — MaineHealth Stephens Hospital is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 Community Grant Program, awarding a total of $27,740 to local nonprofit organizations committed to improving health and wellness in the region. These grants support sustainable healthcare initiatives, addressing a wide range of community needs, from mental health support to sustainable transportation and youth development.

Grant Recipients and Funded Initiatives:

•  Center for Ecological Building and Education (CEBE) – Awarded $2,970 to expand the BikeShare Program, increasing access to sustainable transportation options for the community.

•  Maine Dragon Boat Club (MDBC) – Awarded $2,500 to assist with annual operating costs, enabling the organization to continue offering free clinics and practices that promote fitness, teamwork, and leadership, particularly among cancer survivors and individuals in recovery.

•  Mission Working Dogs – Awarded $5,000 to support the placement of a certified therapy dog in the hospital and surrounding community, enhancing mental health support for patients and staff in the Emergency Department.

•  Safe Voices – Awarded $5,270 to maintain and enhance services for its 24-Hour Helpline Advocacy and Support, ensuring survivors of domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, and sex trafficking receive critical assistance.

•  Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine (CRWM) – Awarded $2,500 to support the Live Well Program, which provides wellness initiatives, support groups, and therapeutic activities for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

•  TruStrength Tomorrow – Awarded $3,500 to provide scholarships for youth in the Oxford Hills School District, ensuring access to mentorship-based fitness and leadership programs focused on building strength, confidence, and resilience.

•  Western Maine Addiction Recovery Initiative (WMARI) – Awarded $4,000 to fund the Western Maine Recovery Outing Program, offering monthly outdoor experiences designed to support individuals in recovery and their families.

•  Lights Out Youth Art Program – Awarded $2,000 to expand its free summer art program for youth in Western Maine, fostering creativity and artistic expression in a supportive environment.
